Meanwhile, inside Muramasas hideout, the Zanpakuto cannot hide their discomfort over having Byakuya join them. In the aftermath, unable to carry on with her job, Rukia allows Ichigo to take on a shinigami role in her place as they defeat the Hollows plaguing Ichigo’s city. The Thirteen Court Guard Squads, particularly Renji and Rukia, are shocked by the news of Byakuya now supposedly working with Muramasa. During this encounter, she transfers her shinigami powers to Ichigo with Rukia unable to defeat the hollow one. A fateful day comes as Ichigo meets the shinigami Kuchiki Rukia, who saves him and his family from a Hollow at the expense of hurting herself.
